Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia is very pleased to announce that the Diocese of Syracuse is once again in full compliance with all audited articles with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People for the 2018/2019 audit period.
The diocese has been found in compliance every year since the passing of the Charter in 2002, which addresses allegations of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy and gives guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse.
This achievement demonstrates the ongoing commitment of our parishes, school, and agencies to the protection of children, youth, and vulnerable from sexual abuse. Our compassionate outreach to those affected by sexual abuse remains an enduring commitment.
The Diocese of Syracuse would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of its clergy, religious, diocesan/parish employees, and volunteers for their ongoing commitment and dedication to ensure the safety of all children, young people and vulnerable adults!
