Learn about the men and women who will be working as Totus Tuus Missionaries this summer throughout our diocese.

Zackary Cerre 2webZachary Cerre

Hey everyone, my name is Zachary (Zack) Cerre, this is my second year of Totus Tuus. I am a sophomore at Wichita State University majoring in elementary education, where I also work as one of the University's mascots. My previous summer with Totus Tuus was such a fruitful experience and I really grew in my faith life, so I decided to do a second summer. I am very excited for Totus Tuus and to meet all of you.

My favorite saint is St. John Bosco because I was assigned to do a project on him, and through that project, I became very close with him and want to be like him as a teacher and a role model.

A fun fact about me is I can catch a fly with my bare hand, and I can put my leg behind my head.

Francis Ferdes 3 webFrancis Ferdes

Hello all! My name is Francis Ferdes. I am a rising junior at Binghamton University studying pre-medicine and Spanish. During my free time, I work at New York-Presbyterian assisting nurses and doctors with patient care. This summer I decided to teach at Totus Tuus because I believe that there is a lot more I need to learn about the Lord and I hope that through this experience I can grow more in my relationship with him as well as help others better understand him.

My favorite patron saint is Saint Louis IX of France. Christ once said that "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24). As someone who hopes to be financially successful in life, I experience a constant struggle with this verse, but I often remember Saint Louis, the King of France, and a very wealthy man who was able to serve and love God over his money. Saint Louis sets an incredible precedent for us all and especially for me and I hope I can be as great as him.

I am a big fan of exploring new places and am always up for a great new adventure. I hope I can find that at Totus Tuus. I look forward to this summer!

John Genilo2web

John Genilo

Hi! My name is John Genilo, I live in Wichita, Kansas. I’m a teacher's aid at a middle school in Wichita. My future is in God’s hands. This is my 3rd year teaching Totus Tuus. I grew up with Totus Tuus. My counselors were inspiring and they had a big impact on me. I want to be that rock for people who do not see that they are worth everything. Totus Tuus helped me to become a better person despite the noises of the world. It ultimately helped me to see that I am valuable in the eyes of God.

My patron saint is St. Joseph the Carpenter. St. Joseph was a man of action! He respected Mary and Jesus. He was a teacher of love. He inspires me to become a better person through his simple deeds of love as a father and a husband.

A fun fact is I can clap with one hand! I love Lord of the Rings. I like hanging out with my family and friends. I love hiking and bonfires. I can’t wait to meet you all this summer. God Bless!

Hannah Hames web

Hannah Hames

Hi everyone! My name is Hannah Hames and I am beyond excited to be spending my summer with you! I am from Lincoln, Nebraska, and I am currently attending the University there as a criminal justice major. I have grown up on Totus Tuus my entire life and it has allowed me to meet amazing new friends, grow in my faith, and have loads of fun in the process. My faith is the most important aspect of who I am and has forever changed how I live my life. This is something SO valuable to me that I just have to share it with others too!

I have WAY too many saints that have influenced me, but Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is my patron saint. She fits well into my life as a strong motherly figure, which I find myself needing, who is also the patron saint of families. I have so many more as well and I can't wait to share them with you when I meet everyone!

Most of my free time is spent in the Saint Thomas Aquinas Newman Center on my campus with friends, God, and of course studying. Participating in the activities at the Newman Center is one of my favorite things to do.

Lillian Joan Lickona web

Lillian Joan Lickona

Hello! My name is Lillian Joan Lickona. I have just finished my first semester at Tompkins Cortland Community College as a general studies major and plans to continue there this fall. Some of my hobbies include listening and dancing to music, reading, and photography. A fun fact about me is that I have been homeschooled all of my life until now, and I have a twin sister!

One of my favorite saints is Saint Gianna Beretta Molla. She is a favorite saint of mine because of her inspiring witness to motherhood and life.

I am so excited and grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Kathleen McCarthy

Kathleen McCarthy

Hi everyone! My name is Kathleen and I am so excited to be teaching Totus Tuus this summer! I am a rising junior at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, where I am an elementary education major with a theology minor. I love being at school and seeing people, so the social distancing life has definitely been unique.

My favorite saint is Mary Magdalene because she was the first to encounter the risen Christ, and her joy is exactly the kind of Easter joy that I strive to have in my life!

One fun fact about me is that I've been in twelve musicals!

Dan OMalley no. 1 web

Dan O'Malley

Hi everybody! My name is Dan O'Malley and this is my second year as a Totus Tuus missionary! I had an amazing time serving last year, and could not pass up the opportunity to do it again! I am so blessed to be able to share the faith and to work and serve with so many incredible people. As for myself, I am going into my junior year at Saint Michael's College in Vermont. I am double majoring in education and religious studies, with minors in history and philosophy. After college, I hope to work in and teach in Catholic schools, to continue to help spread the faith to young people!

My favorite patron saint is recently canonized St. Oscar Romero. St. Romero was a bishop in El Salvador during a war between political forces. He exemplified bravery and perseverance to spread the faith and maintain a focus on God in trying times and provided an authentic witness to people that needed Christ in their lives. I pray that I can imitate Romero's fearlessness and live a life of virtue and witness, even through difficult times.

A few fun facts about myself are that I am colorblind and my favorite food is buffalo chicken wings! I also love football (especially the Cleveland Browns) and watching a good sunset! I cannot wait to get to work and meet all of you this summer!

Kailey webKailey Seiler

Hello! My name is Kailey Seiler, I will be a sophomore at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas this fall. I hope to one day become a high school teacher, and this will be my second year of Totus Tuus. I chose to return to the program to learn more about teaching, to help others, and to grow in my faith.

My favorite patron saint is my confirmation saint, Bernadette. She has some very inspiring ideas that have helped me with my struggles!

One fun fact about me is that I live in the country and have chickens! I’m ready for an amazing summer!
