Catholic Charities of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse was established in 1923 and continues to serve the most vulnerable members of the community through comprehensive services that are designed to address community needs. These services include, but are not limited to, emergency services, food pantries, housing relocation assistance, permanent supportive housing, residential services, refugee resettlement, counseling, parent education and support, elderly services, and homeless services.

Catholic Charities operates services and programs throughout all seven counties of the diocese. There are six primary administrative sub-divisions of the corporation that correspond to the counties, each having a local Executive Director and Board of Directors. Oneida and Madison counties are combined under the same Executive Director and Board. At the corporate level, Catholic Charities operates as a member corporation under the Diocese of Syracuse.
