Ordination/Installation Mass to be Celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Syracuse, NY – Nearly one thousand people will be in attendance to witness the Ordination and Installation of Bishop-elect Douglas J. Lucia at a 2pm Mass on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. His Eminence Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of New York Province will be the consecrator. Co-consecrators will be Most Reverend Robert J. Cunningham, Bishop Emeritus of Syracuse and Most Reverend Terry R. LaValley, Bishop of Ogdensburg. Twenty-three bishops will concelebrate the Mass along with one hundred and eighty priests and seventy-one deacons from across the country and Canada. Nearly seven hundred religious, lay and ecumenical representatives will also be in attendance. A reception will immediately follow at the Syracuse Marriott for all invitees. Attendance to the Mass is by ticket only and all tickets have been distributed. The Mass will be live streamed on the Syracuse Diocese YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/syrdio It will be live on Ch. 9.2, which is also Spectrum 1240, Verizon Fios 470 and New Visions channel 23 and live streamed on www.LocalSYR.com as well as live on Spectrum News, in Central NY, Northern NY and the Southern Tier. An Evening Prayer service will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 7pm in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The Prayer Service will be celebrated by Bishop Robert J. Cunningham and Bishop-elect Lucia will offer the homily. This is an open, non-ticketed event. Media is welcome to cover both the Evening Prayer Service and the Mass of Ordination and Installation.
