Syracuse, NY - The Diocese of Syracuse is excited to join Catholic schools across the nation in celebrating Catholic Schools Week from January 26th through February 1st, 2025. This annual event, sponsored by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), shines a spotlight on the significant contributions of Catholic schools to education, faith formation, and community building. This year’s theme, Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community, will continue through 2026, emphasizing the strong bond that Catholic schools foster among students, families, and their communities.
Throughout the Diocese of Syracuse, our 19 schools will observe this special week with a variety of activities, including Masses, assemblies, service projects, and other events. These activities are designed to engage students, families, parishioners, and community members in celebration of what makes Catholic education unique. Each day of Catholic Schools Week focuses on a different theme, celebrating our parishes, communities, students, nation, vocations, and the dedicated faculty, staff, and volunteers who make Catholic schools exceptional.
Here are just a few of the many events taking place at schools throughout the Diocese of Syracuse during Catholic Schools Week:
St. Patrick’s School, Oneida is collecting toiletries for the St. Patrick’s Food Pantry
Notre Dame Elementary, Utica will hold a Rosary Rally to make rosaries while praying together
Holy Cross School, DeWitt will hold a book drive for Regan’s Acts of Kindness
Bishop Ludden, Syracuse and Bishop Grimes, East Syracuse will face off in the annual Battle of the Bishops basketball games on Friday, January 31st at Bishop Grimes
The Diocese of Syracuse’s Catholic schools strive to provide a faith-filled, academically excellent environment where students grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and leaders in their communities. We welcome families to explore the many benefits of a Catholic education and encourage them to participate in Catholic Schools Week activities.
