The Catholic Schools of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse announce their 11th Annual Light the Way Scholarship Dinner, Friday, January 27, at the OnCenter in Syracuse. The event is sponsored in part by M&T Bank, Mirabito Energy Products, LeMoyne College and the OnCenter.
The 2017 Light the Way Award will be presented to Most Rev. Thomas J. Costello, former diocesan Bishop and Superintendent of Schools in the Diocese of Syracuse, and Most Rev. James M. Moynihan, former Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse.
The Witness to Faith Award will be awarded to Donna Skrocki, a teacher at St. Margaret’s School in Mattydale. Mrs. Skroki has been at St. Margaret’s School for 23 years. Patrick Kinne, Bishop Grimes Jr./Sr. High School, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. Mr. Kinne is a 1998 Grimes graduate.
In addition, the Catholic Schools will acknowledge educators who have served the diocese for 40 years. Those reaching this milestone are Lorraine Ciaccia, Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School, Sally Lisi, Immaculate Conception School, and Maryann Buck and Cynthia Sigbieny, Notre Dame Elementary School.
The annual event will begin at 6 pm with a cash bar, Hors D’oeuvres and the much-anticipated basket raffle. Dinner will be served at 7 pm, followed by the awards presentation at 8:15.
